Accessibility.

How usable this site is, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

What we aim for

We want this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including with a screen reader, with the keyboard alone, at high zoom, or with the browser text size increased. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA.

What we have done

  • Every interactive element can be reached and used with the keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible.
  • Dialogs — the date picker, the guest panel, the filters, the gallery — trap focus while open, close with Escape and return focus to where you were.
  • Text meets the contrast requirements against its background, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • The layout works down to 320px wide and at 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • Every photograph has a description; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Form errors are announced, explained in words and linked to the field they belong to.

What we know is not right yet

[LIST ANY KNOWN ISSUES HERE AFTER AN AUDIT, WITH A DATE FOR FIXING EACH. An accessibility statement that claims perfection is not believed; one that names its gaps is.]

The calendar, the location autocomplete and the payment step need JavaScript. If you cannot use them, ring us on 01962 000 148 and we will take the booking over the phone.

Accessible properties

Accessibility of the properties themselves — step-free access, ground-floor bedrooms, doorway widths, wet rooms — is listed on each property page under amenities. If you need to know something that is not there, ring us before you book and we will go and measure it.

Telling us about a problem

If something on this site gets in your way, please tell us — it is the fastest way for it to get fixed. Email stay@idealescapes.co.uk or ring 01962 000 148. Say which page and what happened, and we will reply within five working days.

If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
